Read the first part here: Red Highlights 1
Here is how my hair looked once I left the salon.
Even though I quite liked the look, red highlights on black hair. I wasn't happy with the color. That night I was finding it difficult to sleep my head felt heavy. I cannot actually describe the uncomfortable feeling. Even the next day it was the same, I then washed my hair and was shocked there was so much color still left on my hair, the salon lady had not washed it properly.
Its been 2 months since I got these red highlights and its been an unpleasant experience (excluding the time when I receive compliments). I have been suffering from tremendous hair fall and itchy scalp for first few days. My soft silky hair has now become brittle and frizzy. Even when I use a wide tooth comb its causes hair fall. I am using the right shampoo and conditioner for the colored hair and still it shows no signs of improvement. I can't really look at the bathroom floor after a shower, the hair fall is that extreme. My hair volume has reduced to half its size. I am now regretting my decision of choosing that particular salon. But if you ask me red highlights always look great on black hair and suit the indian skin tone, if done rightly.
I learnt this the hard way and next time if I do highlight my hair I will do it only at the hair tips or start from 5 inches below the roots. I would be happy to hear if you have any hair care advice for me !
Glamorous! Looking totally rocking!

ReplyDeleteOh no, that is aweful! Wish I had some advise to give on the hair fall out situation. The best that I can say from my experience is that it can also be stress related, if you have been under stress. Also change from the current hair products you are using, maybe that is the cause, if you changed it around the same time that you colored your hair. Hope this helps!

ReplyDeleteYou carry it off so well, super.
ReplyDeleteHi Gorgeous...... ;)
ReplyDeleteWell.... What seems good from outside is not always good from inside. You're looking fab and all nice but you know that you're having problems due to hair color. A good lesson to get from this post. :)
I too had a similar experience and even after years its side effects have not worn off.. So after my stint I prefer keeping chemicals miles away from my hair.. Use avocado pulp to soften your hair.. best conditioner..
ReplyDeleteOnly when you say you are uncomfortable that we understand you are, or you are totally rocking the look. Especially how your hair looks in the sun light!
